Synopsis
A cryogenically preserved man awakens in a future society, to learn that if he cannot be successfully trained to pilot a deep space vessel, he will be deemed worthless and terminated.
Notes
This story was slightly rewritten as part of the fix-up novel A World Out of Time (1976). The novel version is reprinted in the collection Playgrounds of the Mind (1991).
