The story is sometimes attributed to Margaret Baker and Mary Baker, probably from the front cover of the chapbook edition illustrated by Mary Baker. The 1st UK ed. front cover displays "Margaret and Mary Baker". Library records of the 1st ed. imply that its title page is clear. In particular, {{LCCN|29-17945}} shows (quote): Main title Tomson's hallowe'en, by Margaret Baker; with pictures by Mary Baker.
