Hellraiser

The "Hellraiser" series started with Clive Barker's short novel (or long novella) "The Hellbound Heart". Barker used it when writing and directing the movie "Hellraiser" (1987), which spawned at least 8 sequels. The series has been also adapted to other media, including comic books. Other authors have written fiction set in the same universe, including Paul Kane's crossover novel "Sherlock Holmes and the Servants of Hell" (2016).
