First serialized as Sweet Dreams, Sweet Princes in "Analog" in October-December 1964. Reprinted by Four Square as "Time Gladiator" in 1966-03-00. The copyright page states that the original serial publication was unabridged, which suggests that the book reprint contains the same text, but Clute/Nicholls states that the text was expanded for book publication. Expanded by Michael Banks after Reynolds's death and published by Baen as "Sweet Dreams, Sweet Princes" in 1986-10-00.
