• "First published in 1985 by Viking Penguin Inc." stated on the copyright page.
• The copyright page contains the complete Library of Congress Cataloging in Publication Data including the year of publication (1985), the ISBN (0-670-80635-8), and the LCCN (85-3359).
• Month of publication from the date/price code "09163085" printed on the front flap of the dustjacket. (First two and last two digits are the month and year. Middle four digits are a price code, not the FPT).
• "Jacket design by Neil Stuart" (over) "Jacket illustration by James Stagg" printed on the back flap of the dustjacket.
• Each story is followed by an author's note of varying length. The three poems have one author's note. This last is the only one stated in the Table of Contents, as "Afterword", implying incorrectly that it is an afterword for the collection when it is not.
