- A note on page xii states: "All of Harlan's work appearing here derives from preferred texts. Trust these, and no others."
- Statement on the recto of the last page (unnumbered), below a photograph of Ellison on which he has signed his name in gold ink: "This is copy ____ of 1226 signed, numbered and slipcased deluxe editions, of which 26, lettered A through Z, have been reserved for the press as presentation copies."

- The slipcase is covered with the same gray-blue cloth which matches the binding of the book itself.
