The German publisher split the four short stories/novellas of this anthology into three books: Kämpfer wider den Tod, Flug der Zauberer and Götter, Gnomen und Giganten.

- First edition (not stated). The Nelson Doubleday imprint indicates an original publication for Doubleday book clubs.

- No printed price or stated date of publication. Price is from a later SFBC announcement flyer (dated September, 1974). Date is taken from SFBC editor Andrew Wheeler's lists posted on the rec.arts.sf.written newsgroup.
- "5654" printed at the bottom of the back flap of the dustjacket.
- First printing has gutter code "D11" [verified] on page 173, indicates a printing in March 1973.
- Known reprint code: "E28" indicating a printing in July 1974.
- "Jacket painting by Frank Frazetta" on rear flap, the artwork is also signed
- First printing has green boards and black lettering
