• No statement of edition, but there is a complete number line stated on the copyright page: "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1".
• The copyright page contains the complete Library of Congress Cataloging in Publication Data including the ISBN, and the LCCN.
• No stated date of publication.
• Publication code on the back of dustjacket usually indicates the publication date ("1182-1550") which would be November 1982.
• States a 1983 copyright date, because the official publication date was January 3, 1983 (according to a letter from the editor David G. Hartwell, published in Locus #270, July 1983). Because of Gene Wolfe's being Guest of Honor at the 1982 Baycon in San Francisco, an exception was made and distribution of the book began as early as the Thanksgiving weekend in late November. Hartwell goes on to say that most copies weren't available until the publication date, and that the 1982 copyright in the SFBC edition was a mistake.
