This is a complete rewrite of Bishop's 1975 novel A Funeral for the Eyes of Fire.
- "First Pocket Books printing January, 1980" stated with a complete number line: 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 and "Printed in the U.S.A."
- ISBN on the copyright page and the spine.
- Pocket Books catalog #82835-5 on the front cover.
- Cover artist not credited, but there is a blurry signature over the figure's left shoulder. It is the same art as used for the 1975 Ballantine Books edition of A Funeral for the Eyes of Fire except that the image has been flipped left to right and the eyes of the humanoid are gold instead of green.
- There are two uncredited maps before page 1 of the novel.
