Inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. This pantomime, with music by Walter Slaughter, opened on 23rd December, 1886 at the Prince of Wales Theatre "with the express permission of the Author". Dodgson insisted on traditional tunes for the musical numbers.
