  • Full title: ''The Thousand and One Nights: Commonly Called, in England, the Arabian Nights' Entertainments'', but the title page of volume 1 says simply ''The Thousand & One Nights''.
  • Originally published in 32 monthly parts, May 1, 1838-Jan. 1, 1841. Then published as 3 volumes in 1839, 1840, 1841. We use the date of publication of the first volume above. For details, see WorldCat, {{OCLC|219912926}} and {{OCLC|270995480}}.
  • New translation from the Arabic, using the Egyptian recension as the source instead of the Syrian recension, as did Galland. (The first translation of this Egyptian version?) Reprinted on several occasions, and used by others for derivative versions. The "5th edition" (undated) was a 408 pp. "Revised household and family issue", i.e. abridged.
  • "Illustrated by many hundred engravings on wood from original designs by William Harvey." (638 illustrations)
  • The attached photo was listed as a "contemporary binding", but the set of books may not have been released in this binding. This should be replaced with a better image if it becomes available.
