In print, the A. E. is actually kerned (Æ). Russell got his pseudonym from a query from a proofreader over his previous pseudonym AEon (agained with a kerned A/E, Æon). Attended the Metropolitan School of Art in Dublin, where he knew William Butler Yeats. Editor of The Irish Homestead from 1904 to 1923, and The Irish Statesman from 1923 to 1930.
